Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani, playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, will make a starting appearance on March 25 Beijing time, facing his former team the Los Angeles Angels. This is the Dodgers' final spring training game. After a six-day rest, pitcher Ohtani is expected to make his first start of the new season on April 1 Beijing time, against the Cleveland Guardians.
In a warm-up game against the San Francisco Giants on March 19, Shohei Ohtani pitched 4.1 innings using 61 pitches, delivering 4 strikeouts with no runs allowed. However, his control was somewhat unstable, resulting in two walks and one hit-by-pitch, with his fastest pitch reaching 99.9 mph.
Manager Dave Roberts stated that after completing this pitching appearance, Ohtani is expected to rest for six days before making his first start of the new season. Although Ohtani is scheduled to play in the Dodgers' fifth game, his starting time may also be adjusted based on actual circumstances.
The Dodgers' first game of the new season will be on March 27 at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks, followed by a three-game series. After a one-day break, they will continue at home against the Guardians. The Dodgers have already confirmed Yoshinobu Yamamoto as the Opening Day starter. Other expected rotation members include Shohei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, Tyler Glasnow, Emmet Sheehan, etc. Blake Snell is still adjusting and is expected to return around mid-April.
