Roki Sasaki pitched six innings and allowed two runs, but it was all for nothing as the closer was taken deep for a walk-off two-run homer, extending the Dodgers' losing streak to seven games.

The Dodgers traveled to face the Diamondbacks on August 8. In the bottom of the ninth, closer Edwin Diaz entered to close out the game but ended up surrendering a walk-off two-run blast to Ryan Waldschmidt, leading to a 3-4 loss as the Dodgers extended their losing streak to seven games, the longest of the season.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, Nolan Arenado smashed a solo home run to give the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Tim Tawa drew a walk, and after two outs, Geraldo Perdomo laced a triple, driving in another run to make it 2-0.

Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly had been perfect through five innings, but he ran into trouble in the top of the sixth. He allowed a single to Hunter Feduccia, then walked Andy Pages. After that, Freddie Freeman used a fielder's choice to plate the Dodgers' first run, cutting the deficit to 1-2.

Roki Sasaki exited after six innings. In this outing, he threw 86 pitches over six frames, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out five while giving up two runs.

In the top of the seventh, the Dodgers' offense finally woke up. Mookie Betts, Kyle Tucker, and Tommy Edman strung together three consecutive hits to tie the game at 2-2. In the top of the eighth, Andy Pages launched a solo home run to give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead.

However, in the bottom of the ninth, Diaz came in to save the game but immediately walked the first batter, Max Kepler. He then struck out Tawa, but the next batter, Waldschmidt, connected on a pitch and crushed a walk-off two-run homer to end the game. The Dodgers lost 3-4 and have now dropped seven straight games.
