Shohei Ohtani recorded his first stolen base in nearly three months and also scored the go-ahead run.

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired two-time Cy Young Award-winning left-hander Tarik Skubal before the trade deadline, and he made his first home start on August 11. Despite not being at his best and giving up three earned runs, the offense came through for him. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Shohei Ohtani scored the go-ahead run, and the Dodgers narrowly defeated the Royals 6-5, securing only their second win in their last ten games.

This was Skubal's second start since joining the Dodgers. He pitched five innings, allowing four hits, including a two-run homer by the Royals' Jac Caglianone in the top of the third inning, while also striking out six. When he left the game, the team was still trailing. In the bottom of the sixth inning, "Mad Max" Max Muncy delivered a timely double with the bases loaded, clearing the bases with three RBIs, giving the Dodgers the lead and saving Skubal from a loss.

In the top of the seventh, the Royals' Kyle Isbel tied the game with a two-run homer. In the bottom of the seventh, the Dodgers rallied again. Shohei Ohtani singled to get on base and then stole his first base since May 16, a gap of nearly three months. He then advanced to home plate on a hit by Freddie Freeman to score the go-ahead run.

In this game, Ohtani also contributed a double with an RBI. Since July 19, the Dodgers' record has been poor, going 8-12 in their last 20 games, but they still hold a comfortable lead atop the NL West.
