On April 6 Beijing time, according to reporter Stein, the Trail Blazers have been actively exploring the coaching market to clarify their direction for head coach selection after this season ends. This also means interim head coach Splitter could be dismissed, and Yang Hansen might welcome a new head coach next season.

Stein wrote: "League sources say that Dundon (the Trail Blazers' new owner) has been actively surveying the coaching market to gain a clearer picture of Portland's options after the season ends."
Billups served as the Trail Blazers head coach for the past four seasons before being indefinitely suspended by the NBA due to involvement in a nationally sensational gambling scandal. His assistant Splitter took over as interim head coach. Under the leadership of this former Brazilian center, the Trail Blazers are poised to achieve a winning season for the first time since the 2020-21 season. They currently hold the ninth spot in the West with a record of 40 wins and 38 losses, on the verge of entering the play-in tournament.

With Avdija's emergence and Lillard set to return after recovering from his Achilles injury, the Trail Blazers will undoubtedly be one of the most closely watched teams in the 2026-27 season.
Stein indicated that there is external expectation for more coaching position changes this summer than last year. Splitter took over the team early this season after Billups was arrested, and he could also be part of these changes.
Previously, Splitter's utilization of Yang Hansen has often been criticized. However, regardless of which coach is appointed, for Hansen, only by improving his abilities during the offseason can he hope to secure a more significant role and position in the new season.
So far this season, Yang Hansen has played 41 regular-season games for the Trail Blazers, averaging 2.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 31%, a three-point percentage of 11.9%, and a free-throw percentage of 82.4%. Splitter has stated that while Hansen has shown clear improvement, he still needs comprehensive development.
