James could face up to six years in prison! He responded in the US: Come and catch me if you can

A subordinate chapter of the Italian Consumer Association lodged a complaint yesterday with the public prosecutor's office over James' alleged golfing direction toward the ocean, seeking to determine if the golf balls he employed are made of biodegradable materials and if they might cause ecological damage.

Under local law, anyone who illegally causes significant or quantifiable harm to ecosystems, biodiversity, flora, or fauna can face a prison sentence of 2 to 6 years and a fine ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 euros.

As it turns out, the media in the US where James is based barely reported on this incident. Meanwhile, a bunch of haters in China have been celebrating, eagerly anticipating James going to jail over this matter.

According to the video footage available, James appeared to hit two golf balls toward the sea from the deck of a yacht. At present, there is no way for outsiders to know whether James used biodegradable golf balls or whether the balls actually ended up in the ocean.

For cases like this, there is a long journey from investigation and evidence collection to actual legal accountability.

Even if James used non-biodegradable balls and actually hit both into the sea, it would be far from reaching the level of significant damage to the ecological environment. It is also impossible for James to be sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison.

Currently, in the five core global golf markets—Japan, South Korea, the UK, Germany, and Australia—over 100,000 golf balls are hit into the sea every year, and worldwide, more than 3 million golf balls enter the ocean annually.

If hitting a few golf balls could land someone in prison, countless people would have to serve time before James even steps inside.

Today, James posted two updates, both about golf. In one, he made a difficult shot, commonly known as a birdie, and was extremely excited. While I don't know much about golf, I understand that this particular shot was really challenging.

In the other post, James showed the scenery where he played golf—snow-capped mountains and grassy fields, a beautiful landscape. The caption read: "Come and catch me then," along with a peace sign ✌️.

Anyone in the know understands that James was responding to the widely reported lawsuit filed by a small branch of a consumers' association in Italy.

In fact, this consumer association likes to label people and claim the moral high ground. Previously, they targeted Cristiano Ronaldo and made false claims about charity donations during the pandemic, among other things.

Recently, there has been a surge of eco-enthusiasts, and those who want James to go to prison for this are just daydreaming. Here's a small suggestion for James: next time, you might want to play golf near the waters of Japan, since they directly discharge nuclear wastewater. There, you won't be accused by any environmental associations.

Hitting golf balls into water bodies is not an uncommon behavior. In fact, there is a long-standing golf activity known as "water golf" or "aqua golf."

It's precisely because it's James that the public opinion has been blown out of proportion, leading some people to celebrate. If it were any other ordinary professional player, it would never have garnered such attention or attracted international media coverage.

Today, the Italian newspaper *Il Mattino di Napoli* reported that this controversy may soon subside. The reason: biodegradable cornstarch golf balls are already available on the market. They naturally decompose when they enter water without harming the environment, and such balls are widely used in golf courses and exhibition events.

James doesn't need to respond to this minor environmental organization on social media anymore; they have already gained enough attention and boosted their own visibility through this incident.

Let's just enjoy the vacation in the US and keep playing golf.
