Team source: Likelihood of Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the Cavaliers is minimal; several front office executives are against trading Evan Mobley for him.

On June 8th (Beijing time), there have been ongoing rumors over the past few months that the Cavaliers intend to use Evan Mobley as the primary trade asset to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo. Cavs insider Chris Fedor discussed the feasibility of this trade on a program.

Fedor said that the probability of this trade materializing is very low, and he listed the following reasons:

"First, multiple high-ranking executives in the Cavaliers' front office are firmly against this deal. Giannis has only one guaranteed year left on his contract, is over 30 years old, and has recently suffered calf and knee injuries, while also expected to demand a long-term max extension. On the other hand, Mobley is only 24, made the All-NBA Second Team last season, was selected to his first All-Star game, and won Defensive Player of the Year. He is the franchise's cornerstone being developed. Head coach Kenny Atkinson stated as early as Summer League that he believes Mobley has the potential to compete for regular-season MVP in the future, and the entire organization has high hopes for the young big man. Even if Mobley didn't make the anticipated leap this season, the team is not going to give up on him easily."

"Second, although Giannis does not have a no-trade clause, he still has significant influence over his destination. The Bucks will evaluate all potential trade partners and aim to secure the best possible return. However, given the state of Giannis' contract, most teams are reluctant to give up everything for a superstar who would likely only be a one-year rental. No one wants to mortgage their franchise's future for just one season of his services."

"If Giannis privately indicated that he would be willing to stay long-term with a particular team, such as the Miami Heat, then that team might be inclined to increase their trade offer. The same logic applies to the Cavaliers. The Cavs' front office needs to weigh the pros and cons, considering both the short-term boost in competitiveness and the long-term development of the franchise. Considering all factors, even though Giannis could instantly improve the team, the likelihood of this trade actually happening remains low."
