Draymond: Disagrees that the 76ers' paper strength surpasses the 'Superteam Warriors'; Durant believes basketball is all about scoring.

On August 5, Beijing time, Warriors forward Draymond Green discussed Durant's recent controversial remarks on his podcast and expressed his views.

Durant, while talking about LeBron James joining the 76ers, said: "The last time a team had three players averaging 20 points per game, everyone said it was unfair, and that was the Warriors team I played for. Now the 76ers have four players averaging 25 points per game. So yes, I think they will be a championship contender, and it's definitely worth subscribing to League Pass to watch their games."

Draymond's full response is as follows——

First, I think KD (Durant) is showing respect to this 76ers team. Many people are overinterpreting his words, making it seem like KD is saying, "LeBron did exactly what KD did."

That's actually not correct. The choice KD made back then was entirely his own decision; it was what he believed was best for his career and his life at that stage.

So when someone negatively says "he did what Durant did," I don't agree with that, and I don't buy it. Everyone in the world is working hard to earn the capital to do what they want. Durant gave it his all to have the right to choose. Yet many people who can't do as they please instead criticize him for making a choice true to his heart.

But the fact is, after joining the Warriors, he won two Finals MVPs, reached the NBA Finals three times in three years, and delivered some of the most spectacular basketball performances in NBA history. He achieved all of that because he earned the chance to do it. So once again, I completely reject the idea of framing "he replicated what Durant did" in a negative light.

Secondly, I understand what KD is trying to say: back then, everyone said that Warriors team was unfairly strong. But now this 76ers team has four players averaging 25 points per game.

But to understand that statement, you need to understand KD's logic regarding basketball. His basketball philosophy has a touch of "Uncle Drew" in it—to him, basketball is ultimately always about scoring, and that's how he views the game.

So when KD says "they have four players averaging 25 points per game," you need to interpret that statement from KD's perspective. To understand Durant's point, you have to understand his way of thinking and his logic about basketball—basketball is scoring.

That's why he said they have four players averaging 25 points per game, so of course they would be a championship contender and worth watching on League Pass. That's just how KD's mind works.

Many people will see this and say: This 76ers team is nowhere near that Warriors team. But I don't think KD ever said the two teams are equal in strength; I don't think that's what he intended to convey.

He also mentioned that on paper, the 76ers are better than the 2016‑17 Warriors. I can't agree with that. I don't think that statement holds water, but after all, it's just KD's personal view.

Interestingly, Draymond and Klay had previously responded to Durant's remarks on social media. Draymond said: "Does Durant think he's on his burner account?" Klay also replied jokingly: "You okay, man? @Durant, why are you suddenly calling me by my full name?"
