Lonnie Walker IV signs a 1-year, $3.3 million deal with the Nuggets, joining Jokic to chase the championship.

On August 6, Beijing time, according to reporter Shams, GSL Sports Group agent George S. Langberg informed ESPN that Lonnie Walker IV has signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Denver Nuggets.

Walker's last NBA action was in the 2024-25 season, after which he played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague. He is now preparing for his eighth NBA season.

Lonnie Walker stands 6'4" (193 cm) and weighs 205 lbs (93 kg). He plays shooting guard/small forward and is an athletic combo guard. In the 2018 NBA Draft, he was selected 18th overall in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs, beginning his NBA career.

In college, he played for the University of Miami, showing explosive athleticism, excellent leaping ability, and potential for self-creation and outside shooting, but his shooting consistency fluctuated. After entering the league, Walker spent four seasons with the Spurs, struggling with injuries early on but gradually developing into a rotation player. He later played for the Nets and the 76ers. Over his NBA regular-season career, he averages 10 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, with a 35.6% three-point percentage. He can drive and shoot, but he has never been able to secure a stable core rotation spot on any team.

In the 2024-25 season, Walker went to Europe to play in the EuroLeague. On the European stage, his ability to score in isolation was unleashed; he earned a round MVP award and helped his team win the league championship, proving his scoring prowess. In the summer of 2026, he opted out of his European contract and signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, returning to the NBA for his eighth season.

Walker's strengths include his explosive athleticism, quick first step, and ability to create his own shot and hit three-pointers. He is suited for a sixth-man role, capable of scoring in bunches in short stretches. However, his weaknesses are also prominent: he is highly inconsistent, prone to forcing offense, his defensive focus fluctuates, and his playmaking is limited.
