10 three-pointers set a new WNBA record! McBride scores 43 points, leads Lynx to playoff berth

On August 10th Beijing time, in a WNBA matchup, the Lynx beat the Wings 103-90, powered by a career-best 43 points from Kayla McBride. She connected on 16 of 21 shots, hitting 10 of 14 from beyond the arc, breaking the WNBA record for most three-pointers in a single game. It marks the seventh time this season McBride has drained at least four threes in a game.

The previous single-game three-point record was nine, achieved by eight different players in league history. This season, Toronto's Marina Mabrey even made nine threes twice within a six-day span.

McBride's record-breaking three came with 2:23 remaining in the game, extending the Lynx's lead to 98-83.

Olivia Miles finished with 20 points (5-of-8 on threes) and 13 assists; Napheesa Collier added 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block. Chinese player Li Yueru came off the bench to contribute 4 points and 6 rebounds.

With this victory, the Lynx improved to 27-7, becoming the first WNBA team to clinch a playoff spot this season. With 10 games left in the regular season, Minnesota holds a 3.5-game lead over the Golden State Valkyries for the top seed in the league, and a 4.5-game lead over the Las Vegas Aces.

After the game, speaking about her performance, McBride said, "I don't know what to say—I'm just full of gratitude. It's incredible. I've been in this league for 13 years, and when I decided to come back here in the offseason, none of us knew what the future would hold. But it's moments like this that make you realize you made the right decision. Minnesota has become my home, and I want to give it everything I've got."

"Today, whether the ball went in or missed, I could feel so much love. I think that's why I can play freely out there. People accept me for who I am and make me feel valued. I love this game and I want to win. I want to thank the fans, the team, for letting me be myself every day. Thank you to my family, my support system. Right now I'm just filled with joy, happiness, and gratitude. Basketball has been good to me, so when I have opportunities like this, I want to give it my all."
