The Timberwolves have kicked off their training trip in France! 14 players are taking part, with Edwards and Ball leading the way alongside Gobert.

The Timberwolves started their training trip in France on August 10th Beijing time. Based on the photo posted by Dosunmu, 14 players joined the scrimmage. The image features Gobert, Edwards, and Ball.

Jon Krawczynski, the Timberwolves beat writer for The Athletic, reported: "Edwards and Ball made the decision to do this on their own; they took the lead and coordinated with teammates to set everything up. I think this means a lot to Rudy Gobert... When he feels fully accepted by the team and sees his teammates trying to maximize his value, that bond carries even more weight for him." Earlier, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch also publicly praised Edwards for his support of Gobert.

This offseason, the Timberwolves traded away Reid in the deal to acquire Ball. Later, they sent Randle to the Brooklyn Nets, a move essentially aimed at salary cap relief. This also means that the team needs starting center Gobert to have a strong season.

During his time with the Timberwolves, Gobert has won one Defensive Player of the Year award and been named to the All-Defensive Team three times. He was selected 27th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft and was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Timberwolves just before the 2022-23 season. He is now set to begin his fifth season in Minnesota.

The Timberwolves had reached the Western Conference Finals for two consecutive years, but last season they were eliminated in the semifinals. With their Big Three of Edwards, Ball, and Gobert, Minnesota aims to re-establish themselves as a championship contender in the West. They also pursued LeBron James during the offseason, but James ultimately chose to join the 76ers.
