In 2011, Yao Ming officially ended his playing career.

In November of the same year, at age 31, he entered the Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an ordinary undergraduate freshman, majoring in economics.

In July 2018, at age 38, Yao Ming finally stood on the stage of SJTU's graduation ceremony, receiving his bachelor's degree in economics.

When speaking as a graduate representative, he humorously remarked:

"Believe me, when someone takes seven years and graduates at age 38, he knows what he's talking about."

So during this AUBL semifinal, the old alumnus sat courtside, fully absorbed in the game.
