The Clippers now have the tallest and shortest active players in the NBA! They signed 2.26-meter Sharpe and brought in 1.70-meter Kawamura.

The Clippers announced on August 11 that they had signed center Jamario Sharpe to a two-way deal. At 2.26 meters, Sharpe edges out Wembanyama (registered at 2.24 meters) as the tallest active player in the NBA. Consequently, the team now boasts both the tallest and shortest active players, with the shortest being Yuki Kawamura, who joined via an Exhibit 10 camp contract.

Sharpe completed a five-year college basketball career: two years at a junior college, followed by two years at Western Kentucky, and a final year at the University of Mississippi. He went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft and later joined the Texas Legends of the G League.

In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 7.1 points and 7.3 rebounds, led the league with 3.8 blocks per game, and was named G League Defensive Player of the Year. He was also the first player in Legends history to earn that award, while leading the entire league with a 73.5% field goal percentage.

Last month, Sharpe played for the Toronto Raptors at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, averaging 7.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks over five games. In a matchup against the Houston Rockets, he posted 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Signing Sharpe could help the Clippers better handle Victor Wembanyama. The young big man has been dominant against the Clippers. According to StatMuse, Wembanyama has averaged 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks in eight career games versus the Clippers. Last season, in three meetings, Wembanyama recorded a double-double in each game, and the Spurs won all three contests.

Sharpe will have an opportunity to prove his value. He needs to showcase his reliable rim protection to secure a spot on the Clippers roster.

Additionally, the Clippers signed Yuki Kawamura, who stands 1.70 meters tall, to an Exhibit 10 contract.

An Exhibit 10 contract is typically used for participating in the team's preseason training camp. Before the regular season starts, the team can convert it into a two-way contract. If the player is waived and then spends 60 days with the team's G League affiliate, they can earn a special bonus.

In 2024, Yuki Kawamura joined the Grizzlies to begin his NBA career, later moving to the Bulls. In 40 regular-season games, he averaged 2.5 points and 1.7 assists. In the G League, he recorded multiple double-digit assist games, demonstrating elite playmaking ability. This summer, he played for the Pacers in the Summer League, and now he will compete for a roster spot with the Clippers.
