Agent confirms it's true! Greek giant officially bids for Jokic, but public courtship is hard to achieve.

On August 11, Beijing time, Jokic's representative Mislav Raznatovic verified that Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Yiannakopoulos attempted to take the Serbian star to Athens. Despite the official bid sent to the Denver Nuggets and Jokic, the triple-double king stays in the NBA, consistently putting up dominant numbers for Denver.

A transfer that initially seemed almost impossible has now been confirmed by Jokic's agent.

Athens Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Yiannakopoulos previously revealed that he seriously tried to sign the Nuggets superstar, stating that the club had submitted an offer to Jokic and his NBA team.

Now, Jokic's longtime agent Mislav Raznatovic confirms that Yiannakopoulos's statements are true.

Raznatovic told Athletiko: "What Yiannakopoulos said is all true."

Prior to this, Yiannakopoulos appeared on the EuroInsiders show, discussing his long-standing admiration for Jokic, which led to this official confirmation.

Yiannakopoulos emphasized that his pursuit of the Serbian star was not just casual talk on social media; he revealed that Panathinaikos genuinely tried to push forward this seemingly far-fetched transfer.

"I made a formal offer with full sincerity," Yiannakopoulos said, adding that the offer was submitted to both Jokic and the Nuggets, but was ultimately rejected.

Yiannakopoulos's admiration for Jokic is nothing new.

The Panathinaikos owner has repeatedly publicly expressed his appreciation for the three-time NBA MVP and has openly fantasized about bringing him to Athens. Earlier, Yiannakopoulos stated on social media that he would eventually try to make this dream signing happen.

Jokic himself was also aware of the interest. In 2024, after the Greek club owner publicly expressed his admiration, someone asked the Serbian center whether he might move to the European league later in his career to play for Panathinaikos.

However, for now, Jokic remains the undisputed cornerstone of the Nuggets.

The 31-year-old big man averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.7 assists in the 2025-26 season, posting another triple-double average and firmly remaining among the league's elite.

Given Jokic's status in Denver and the huge salary gap between the NBA and European leagues, it is almost unimaginable that he would join Panathinaikos in the short term.

But one thing about this is no longer just a rumor: Yiannakopoulos actually made a move. And Raznatovic has now personally confirmed it all.
