The Fire trait is shaping up to be a solid all-rounder in TFT Set 18 thanks to its ability to apply Burn, cut healing, and boost shop odds. In particular, players can benefit from its power without needing to chase a high trait tier.
There are six champions in the Fire trait, namely Akali, Varus, Shen, Amumu, Kennen, and Lux. Each of these units belongs to a different class/origin, including Adaptive, Wilder, Ranger, Sentinel, Warrior, Butcher, and Ascendant.
Thanks to that variety, Fire can be easily added to many lineups without seriously disrupting their current structure. You can rely on Akali as a melee carry, use Varus as your backline damage source, and let Shen or Amumu serve as the frontline.
Once Fire is active, its champions apply Burn to enemies and reduce their healing for several seconds. The special thing here is that Fire's Burn stacks with other sources of the same effect.
This mechanic lets your lineup constantly wear down opponents, which is especially useful against units with strong sustain. It also means you no longer have to depend heavily on items like Sunfire Cape or Morellonomicon to apply Grievous Wounds.
The most appealing part of the Fire trait appears at three Fire. After every combat round, some shop slots that do not contain Fire units are burned away and replaced by champions that cost one gold more.
As a result, you get more opportunities to find high-cost units to power up your endgame board. Activating the 5 and 7 Fire breakpoints further increases how many shop slots are upgraded and boosts the strength of the Burn effect.
However, reaching 7 Fire is not a mandatory goal because Lux is hard to find, and the max-tier effect does not always provide a combat advantage worth the effort. In most games, going for 2 or 3 Fire is already enough to add decent damage-over-time and improve your shop.
With its early tempo, support for rolling, and ability to link many different traits, Fire is ideal for players who enjoy creating flexible team compositions in TFT Set 18.
