Hi everyone, I'm Game Xiaodi.
In Honor of Kings, the support is the poorest role, so if any other position has even less gold than the support, the match is basically lost. Because of this low economy, supports often lack enough equipment by mid-game and die easily. So is there a way to make supports tankier in the early to mid stages? That's what we're going to discuss today.

Generally, a support's first two items are fixed. Whether it's a soft or tank support, the first item is a roaming piece—though it could be Star Spring or Redemption—and the second item is boots for mobility. Only when it comes to the third item do you pick based on what you need.

Because supports have relatively low gold, finishing the first two items usually takes at least six minutes. By then, both sides are already engaging in frequent small skirmishes. Supports often have to scout, drawing all kinds of focused damage—both physical and magical—which makes them very squishy. It's hard to decide which damage type to prioritize defending against.
For this reason, Xiaodi strongly suggests that supports buy the Celestial Stone as their third item. This small component can make a big difference:

The Celestial Stone is actually a component for building Sage's Protection. It gives 150 physical defense and 150 magic defense, totaling 300 defense stats.
Its advantages: first, it provides both resistances at once. This stat value is quite high for the early-mid game, helping supports mitigate a lot of damage, and it's versatile—it reduces both magic and physical hits. Second, the price is very friendly—only 800 gold—which offers great value for low-economy supports. For comparison, a full item like Ominous Prescience costs over 2000 gold and only gives 300 physical defense, plus some other stats and passives. In comparison, the Celestial Stone is much more cost-effective.

Another reason this item fits supports well is that it almost never causes inventory slot issues. In most games, supports can't afford six full items unless the match drags past 20 minutes with the Storm Dragon. So having the Celestial Stone won't force you to save up over 2000 gold for a big item. And even in 20+ minute games, the Celestial Stone can be upgraded into Sage's Protection—an item many supports need late game. So nothing goes to waste—give it a try!

That's all for today. If you liked it, feel free to hit like to support me. If you have anything to say, ask, or want to see, leave a comment—I'll read them all~
No game I don't know, no matter I'm unaware; I'm Xiaodi, let's have a hearty chat!
