On the second day of the 2026 Global Pioneer Tournament, JDG from the LPL region faced GEN from the LCK region. While many might have anticipated the final outcome due to GEN's formidable strength, there was still hope that JDG could unleash a small burst of energy and challenge GEN a bit! However, when the match concluded, GEN swept JDG with a 3-0 victory, finishing all three games in just 77 minutes. JDG was completely outmatched. It's undeniable that this GEN team is incredibly strong, with a suffocating dominance that's truly astonishing! It almost reminds people of that playful remark, "Chovy is really different this year," and based on his performance, he truly is!

Looking back at the entire BO5, although HongQ started by solo-killing Chovy early on, it turned out to be just a smokescreen—Chovy was merely teasing everyone. Whether it was the strategic split-pushing with the card in the first game, the effortless lane domination with Ahri in the second game leading to mid lane being pushed flat and his roaming dominance in team fights, or the unstoppable scaling with Hwei in the third game where he single-handedly pushed through a lane, Chovy's terrifying pressure can only be described as exaggerated. Even a mid laner of HongQ's caliber couldn't handle him. Perhaps only Knight can stand up to Chovy now!

Because the mid lane was constantly under pressure, Canyon played more flexibly in the jungle, while Junjia became more passive. Of course, the biggest gap in this match was in the bot lane. Whether Gala and V chose any champion, they seemed unable to pressure Ruler and instead frequently got caught out! Overall, JDG looked like a child against GEN, reminiscent of the old days when LPL faced LCK—without lane priority, everything was controlled by GEN, and whether in team fights or resource contests, they were always half a step behind! Fortunately, as an international newcomer, Xiaoxu managed to reclaim some pride by solo-killing Kiin!

It seems Tabe was somewhat helpless too. Previously, teams he coached like RNG, BLG, and AL had explosive potential, but this JDG squad, aside from Xiaoxu occasionally shining, lacks explosive points—at least against GEN, they couldn't erupt. The mid-jungle duo couldn't withstand the pressure at all, which might just be the hard skill gap. This is Chovy's era! Hopefully, BLG can step up, counterbalance GEN, and give us some hope!
