Malaysian media points out Vietnam team's weakness

Malaysian media states that the Vietnam team is exposing a significant weakness in their forward line due to the drop in form of several core players, opening up a chance for Malaysia before the crucial encounter.

Malaysian media claims the Vietnam national team is showing concerning weaknesses in their attack ahead of the important match against Malaysia in the final Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. This assessment was made by Malaysian sports site Makan Bola while analyzing the current form of Vietnam's players.

According to Makan Bola, the Malaysian team has a psychological advantage as they lead Group F with 15 points after 5 consecutive wins, holding a 3-point lead over Vietnam before the direct clash on March 31. While Malaysia maintains stable performance, Vietnam is facing issues both in squad strength and the form of key players.

The Malaysian media particularly emphasizes the decline of Vietnam's attacking line. Players once expected to lead the offense, such as Nguyen Van Vi, Chau Ngoc Quang, and Nguyen Hai Long, have not shown impressive scoring performance in this season's V.League.

Specifically, Nguyen Van Vi and Chau Ngoc Quang have yet to score any goals, while Nguyen Hai Long has only scored 1 goal after many rounds. These are players recently relied upon by coach Kim Sang-sik in Vietnam team gatherings.

Additionally, the red-shirted team also faces losses in defense as defender Bui Tien Dung is likely absent due to injury. This makes Vietnam's defensive system appear less solid ahead of the match against Malaysia.

According to Makan Bola, amid Vietnam's ineffective attack, Nguyen Hoang Duc is a rare bright spot. This midfielder is currently among the top scorers in V.League with 6 goals in 15 matches, but he is not a true striker and cannot shoulder the entire scoring responsibility.
