Arne Slot: 'PSG will not be happy to face Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals'

Coach Arne Slot praised Liverpool's performance against Galatasaray and sent a message to PSG, their opponent in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool excellently overturned the deficit against Galatasaray in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg, proudly advancing to the quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate victory.

After the match, Coach Arne Slot expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, while regretting that his players did not fully capitalize on the opportunities they had.

The Dutch strategist shared: "I am pleased with how we played, how we pressed, and the reaction of the fans when Galatasaray tried to do what I predicted. They lay on the pitch, trying to disrupt the rhythm of the game. The only thing I regret is that throughout the season, we have had too many chances but didn't score, that's the only thing.

The positive aspect is that we had good halves and sometimes allowed the opponent about 10 minutes to create chances, but today we didn't let any slip. I don't think they had any opportunities. We continued to create chances consistently.

It's great to keep a clean sheet, we didn't allow the opponent many chances; usually we concede, but tonight we didn't let any chance slip."

During the 90 minutes at Anfield, Mohamed Salah made a clear mark by reaching 50 goals in the Champions League arena, becoming the first African player to achieve this in history. However, the Egyptian star missed the opportunity to increase his goal tally when he failed to convert a penalty kick.

Regarding his student, Slot said: "I think that speaks volumes about his spirit after missing the penalty, a difficult moment. Then he made a fantastic assist, and his goal truly is his trademark.

Receiving affection from the fans means a lot to me and the players. Anfield showed that we can create a better atmosphere than Galatasaray at their home ground. Our fans reacted when they saw the opponent wasting time, and that helped a lot."

In the quarter-finals, Liverpool will face PSG, the opponent that eliminated The Kop in the Round of 16 last season and then went on to win the title. Despite facing Luis Enrique's star-studded team, Slot expressed great confidence by stating: "Last season, we were completely overwhelmed by them away and then lost in the penalty shootout. They still maintain their standards, but after today's performance, they will not be happy to face us."

Liverpool and PSG will have nearly three weeks to prepare for the showdown on April 8 (Vietnam time).
