Foreign player with 11 titles leaves V.League after more than a month of return

Hai Phong Club unexpectedly parted ways with Moses Oloya just over a month after reuniting, ending the brief return journey of the foreign player with the most achievements in the league.

Hai Phong Club has made a surprising decision by officially announcing the departure of midfielder Moses Oloya, just over a month after announcing the contract renewal with the Ugandan star.

Specifically, on February 7, 2026, the Port City team welcomed the return of Moses Oloya amid many changes in the squad before phase 2 of V.League 2025/26. This was considered an experienced addition to the midfield, especially since Oloya had many years of competition and proven his caliber in Vietnam's top league.

Under the guidance of Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem who once helped him reach career peak at Hanoi FC Moses was expected to quickly integrate and bring stability to Hai Phong's midfield. With his resilient playstyle, good match-reading ability, and solid physical foundation, the midfielder born in 1992 was once likened to the "lungs" of the midfield.

Not only possessing extensive playing experience, Oloya is also one of the most successful foreign players in V.League history. During his career in Vietnam, he won a total of 4 V.League championships, 4 National Cups, 3 National Super Cups, and many other titles—achievements few foreign players can match. Additionally, his 47 appearances for the Uganda national team also helped him accumulate international playing experience.

However, all expectations ended early. On March 18, 2026, Hai Phong Club confirmed parting ways with Moses Oloya after a short period. Although detailed information was not disclosed, the early departure indicates that this player did not meet professional requirements or did not fit the coaching staff's plans during the decisive phase of the season.

This decision surprised many fans, as Oloya was previously seen as a crucial piece to strengthen Hai Phong's midfield. The early departure also means the Port City team must continue seeking replacement options to ensure squad depth in the upcoming race.

Although this return journey to V.League was brief, Moses Oloya still left a strong impression on Vietnamese football fans as one of the most successful and distinctive foreign players in the league.
