As scheduled, the Vietnam U23 squad will conduct an internal game prior to traveling to China to compete.
In preparation for the friendly tournament in China, CFA Team China 2026, the Vietnam U23 team is currently training in Hanoi with head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh and his assistants. With the addition of overseas Vietnamese striker Antonio Moric from the U19 team, Vietnam U23 now has 30 players (Le Phát was previously absent due to injury).
According to the plan, before departing to China, Vietnam U23 must cut 5 players. It is known that on March 21, the team will have an internal match. It is highly likely that after this match, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh will finalize the roster.
On March 22, the Vietnam U23 team will have its final training session before departing to China for the tournament on March 23.
At the CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026 tournament, Vietnam U23 will have the opportunity to compete against quality opponents including China U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23. Interim head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh believes this is an ideal competitive environment for players to gain experience: “We always aim to compete and test ourselves against strong opponents. This is a good opportunity for young players to experience, accumulate knowledge, and improve, thereby preparing better for the future.”
Overseas Vietnamese Antonio Moric has a chance to stay with Vietnam U23
Croatian-born Vietnamese striker Antonio Moric is a figure receiving significant attention in this training camp. Initially, Moric was called up to the Vietnam U19 team. However, the coaching staff of Vietnam U23 decided to promote the striker born in 2008 to train with the U23 senior teammates.
After two training sessions, Moric received positive evaluations from his teammates in the Vietnam U23 team. Previously, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh affirmed that if he performs well and meets professional requirements, Moric fully has the opportunity to be part of the Vietnam U23 squad for the tournament in China.
