HOT: Liverpool faces potential lawsuit after 4-0 Champions League victory

Galatasaray threatens legal action against UEFA after the shocking injury of Noa Lang during the defeat to Liverpool, igniting significant debate regarding the safety conditions of the pitch in Champions League matches.

Liverpool's 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 was overshadowed by the severe injury of Noa Lang, leading to the risk of a major legal dispute.

In the 76th minute at Anfield, Noa Lang suffered a rare accident when he collided forcefully with an advertising board along the sideline. The slip caused a severe laceration to the Dutch player's finger, forcing him to remain on the ground in pain and receive oxygen before being stretchered off. The image of Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk coming to console him further highlighted the seriousness of the incident.

Immediately after the match, the Galatasaray side reacted sharply. Secretary General Eray Yazga confirmed that the club had lodged a complaint with UEFA and was working with lawyers to prepare a lawsuit. The Turkish club argued that this was a preventable incident and demanded compensation, particularly concerning Lang's wages during his injury recovery period.

According to initial information, Noa Lang underwent emergency surgery to address the finger injury. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old player reassured fans on social media by stating that the operation was successful. However, Galatasaray's management remains highly aggrieved and determined to pursue the matter fully.

Those present at the stadium described it as a "gruesome" injury. Some sources revealed that Lang's finger was so severely damaged that it was nearly severed, shocking players from both teams. This incident cast a shadow over Liverpool's dominant performance, where goals were scored by Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah.

After the match, the Anfield ground staff conducted an inspection of the accident area, but no official conclusion has been reached regarding whether the advertising board ensured safety. Regarding UEFA, the organization confirmed it has launched an investigation and will review the entire LED board system along the sidelines in upcoming matches.
