For the first time in history, Vietnam's national team will participate in two major consecutive tournaments, posing a difficult personnel challenge.

At the meeting on March 20, the FIFA Council officially approved the organization of the FIFA ASEAN Cup, with its inaugural edition scheduled for September–October 2026. Vietnam's national team and other Southeast Asian teams will face an unprecedented dense schedule in history as the AFF Cup is held immediately before.
