The "Three Lions" will enter the March international fixtures with a large squad to continue preparations for the 2026 World Cup. This also provides an opportunity to face two opponents who will both participate in the planet's biggest football festival taking place in North America this summer.
Notably, Manager Tuchel has selected a larger squad than usual, while also dividing the team into two groups for the training camp.
In this list, midfielder James Garner (Everton) receives his first national team call-up. Goalkeeper Jason Steele (Brighton) also features, with the potential to travel to the World Cup as a training goalkeeper.
Additionally, Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are recalled to the national team. Newcastle's Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento also return after missing the autumn internationals due to injury, while Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan) rejoins to strengthen the defense. On the attacking front, striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin receives his first call-up in 5 years. Dominic Solanke (Tottenham) is also named in the list.
Regarding the decision to call up 35 players, Manager Tuchel stated: “We essentially split the team into two groups, aiming to give opportunities to players who haven't been tested much, thereby expanding options and increasing competition for World Cup spots in the US.”
“After that, from Friday and Saturday, another group of about 10 or 11 players will assemble. They had a break beforehand and we will use a new combination of personnel for the match against Japan.”
Tickets for both matches against Uruguay (27/3) and Japan (31/3) are still available for purchase.
