Because numerous players are occupied with the National Cup matches, the first assembly of Vietnam's national team consisted of just 10 players.

On the afternoon of March 21, the Vietnam national team commenced their first training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center during the March 2026 FIFA Days gathering. Since many players are still competing in the National Cup quarter-finals and the postponed match of Round 13 of V.League 2025/26, only 10 players attended this training session.

Speaking to the media, Do Hoang Hen expressed his pride at wearing the Vietnam national team jersey for the first time. He shared his emotion after waiting for this opportunity for a long time and affirmed that he will strive to contribute fully to the team. "I am very happy and proud to wear the Vietnam national team jersey. I love Vietnam and will try to perform well for the flag and colors," Hoang Hen said.

The earliest group to assemble included goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien (HAGL), forward Nguyen Xuan Son, defender Nguyen Van Vi (Thep Xanh Nam Dinh), defenders Do Duy Manh, Pham Xuan Manh, midfielders Nguyen Hai Long, Do Hoang Hen, forward Pham Tuan Hai (Hanoi), forward Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong (Becamex TP.HCM), and defender Nguyen Nhat Minh (Hai Phong). Among them, midfielder Do Hoang Hen, a new recruit to the national team, attracted significant attention.

According to the plan, on March 22, a group of six players including Dang Van Lam, Le Ngoc Bao, Truong Tien Anh, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Pham Gia Hung (Ninh Binh), and Khuat Van Khang (The Cong Viettel) will join after completing their duties in the National Cup quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, a group of seven players from the Hanoi Police Club including Doan Van Hau, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao pendant Quang Vinh, Le Pham Thanh Long, Tran Dinh Trong, and Nguyen Filip will also arrive on March 23, after the postponed Round 13 V.League match.

The international friendly match between the Vietnam national team and the Bangladesh national team will take place at 19:00 on March 26 at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi). After this match, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have four more days of preparation before hosting Malaysia at Thiên Trường Stadium (Ninh Binh) on March 31, within the framework of the final Asian Cup 2027 qualifying round.
