CBA standings undergo overnight upheaval! Guangsha defeats Jiangsu, overtakes Shanghai to claim top spot, Shenzhen climbs to fourth with four consecutive wins.

On March 23 Beijing time, the CBA regular season continued. Two matches concluded last night: Jiangsu lost 81-88 in overtime to defending champion Guangsha, failing to pull off an upset, while Shenzhen crushed Tianjin 114-86. Consequently, the latest standings have been updated, leading to a major reshuffle. Guangsha, with four consecutive wins and one extra game played, overtook Shanghai to take the lead. Shenzhen, also on a four-game winning streak, surpassed Shandong to climb to fourth place. Tianjin suffered its fifth consecutive loss, remaining 17th, while Jiangsu sits second-to-last.

Jiangsu versus Guangsha. Jiangsu had previously upset powerhouse Guangdong in the last round. In this back-to-back challenge against defending champion Guangsha, they posed significant difficulties, engaging in a tightly contested battle with scores closely matched. The two foreign players Tucker and Giles exchanged points with remarkable accuracy, keeping the suspense alive until the final moments. Pang Zhenlin's fiery performance miraculously helped Jiangsu drag the game into overtime. In overtime, Guangsha demonstrated superior skill, unleashing a scoring surge to widen the gap and ultimately secure victory over Jiangsu. Although they were given a scare, Guangsha avoided an upset and did not repeat Guangdong's fate. It must be noted that Jiangsu's improvement is substantial; their upset over Guangdong appears not to be a fluke. After defeating Jiangsu, Guangsha secured four consecutive wins, with one extra game played, overtaking Shanghai to claim the top spot, earning a temporary lead position.

Shenzhen versus Tianjin. Shenzhen has been in hot form recently, securing a three-game winning streak. Facing the weaker Tianjin this round, they aimed to continue their momentum and claim another victory. Initially, Tianjin and Shenzhen traded blows, with the situation evenly balanced. However, the second quarter saw a reversal: Tianjin suddenly went cold, while Shenzhen launched a major offensive, coordinating inside and outside to score 33-21 in the quarter, establishing a double-digit lead by halftime. In the second half, Shenzhen steadily maintained their double-digit advantage, firmly suppressing Tianjin. In the final quarter, Shenzhen's attack resurged, scoring 29-15 in the period, overwhelming Tianjin and further expanding their lead. Ultimately, Shenzhen had three players scoring over 20 points, displaying multi-point offense to dismantle Tianjin, roaring to a four-game winning streak and climbing to fourth place.

In the latest standings, Guangsha edged out Shanghai, who had a nine-game winning streak, to seize the temporary top spot, igniting the battle for first place. Guangdong and Shenzhen share the same points, while Shandong and Beijing are also tied. Sichuan, suffering 28 consecutive losses, firmly holds the bottom position, with their first win still seemingly distant.
