Manchester United officially announced that forwards Mbembo and Benjamin Sesko have withdrawn from the Cameroon and Slovenia national team squads respectively. They will stay in Manchester to resolve their individual injury problems.

In last Friday night's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth, Mbembo was substituted in the 71st minute. This 26-year-old player has been substituted at similar times in three consecutive matches. In fact, he has been dealing with minor injury issues, which first occurred after Manchester United's Premier League victory over Tottenham on February 8, when he limped off the field with a problem in his right leg. Subsequently, in multiple matches, Mbembo's right leg injury seems to have never fully recovered.
For precautionary reasons, Mbembo has withdrawn from Cameroon's national team squad. This means he will miss the match against China's men's national team. Cameroon will face Australia and China during this international match window in the FIFA Series.
The FIFA Series is a cross-national friendly tournament organized by FIFA, scheduled to be held in even-numbered years. March 2026 marks the first official edition of the event. Groups consist of four national teams from different continents, totaling 48 men's and women's national teams divided into 12 groups. Cameroon is grouped with China's men's national team, Australia, and Curaçao.
Since Cameroon has already missed out on this summer's World Cup finals, Mbembo's withdrawal from this national team call-up has minimal impact, which is also the main reason he chose not to participate. If it were for the World Cup, the player certainly would not miss the final warm-up opportunity.
The same situation applies to Sesko's Slovenia. In recent weeks, Sesko has had minor health issues. In matches against Aston Villa and Bournemouth, Sesko returned to the bench, only participating as a substitute for under 20 minutes.
Now, he will miss Slovenia's matches against Hungary and Montenegro to fully recover and overcome his minor injuries.

According to Manchester United's schedule, Mbembo and Sesko have over three weeks to regain fitness. BBC expert Simon Stone reports that Carrick expects both players to be available for the Premier League match against Leeds United at home on Monday, April 13.
Right-back Mazraoui, who missed Manchester United's match against Bournemouth due to illness, has now recovered and will join the Monaco national team for their campaign. Mazraoui's physical condition has improved sufficiently to participate in Morocco's friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
For Morocco, this is undoubtedly a highly anticipated match. Last week, CAF ruled that Senegal's boycott of the Africa Cup of Nations final resulted in a forfeit, so runner-up Morocco was awarded the championship title.
Most Manchester United players have national team or youth national team match commitments. Unselected players will train at Old Trafford early this week but will receive a weekend break, permitted to travel abroad for relaxation. However, the club advises players taking holiday breaks, considering the situation in the Middle East, to preferably avoid traveling to Dubai.
Sunny Dubai has always been a favored vacation destination for Premier League players, especially Manchester United, as there are direct flights from Manchester to Dubai. Even though many European airlines have currently suspended direct flights to Dubai, Emirates still maintains two daily direct flights from Manchester Airport to Dubai.
Manchester United players Lenny Yoro and Eden Haven vacationed and trained in Dubai during last month's long break. The current advice from the UK Foreign Office is to avoid travel to the UAE unless absolutely necessary, and Manchester United has communicated this advice to players planning vacations later this week. Dubai's airports and hotels have recently experienced frequent incidents, and traveling there risks potentially being stranded.

Manchester United first-team players without assignments during this international match window include Tom Heaton, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, and Joshua Zirkzee.
