Leading the French national team, Zidane finalizes appointment of two Real legends

Coach Zinedine Zidane is said to be bringing trusted colleagues from his Real Madrid days, in the context of his upcoming takeover of the French national team post-2026 World Cup.

According to sources from L’Equipe, Zinedine Zidane will bring back familiar collaborators from his Real Madrid period, David Bettoni and Hamidou Msaidie, to take charge of the French national team after World Cup 2026.

This information stems from the fact that Zidane is reportedly having reached an agreement to lead the French national team, replacing his compatriot Didier Deschamps. Therefore, the 1972-born coach wants thorough preparation to quickly adapt to the high-pressure and complex environment of a national team, which gathers world-class stars.

Regarding the trusted associates, David Bettoni and Hamidou Msaidie are considered right-hand men who accompanied Zidane during his successful period at Real Madrid.

Bettoni previously worked at FC Sion in Switzerland and later at Club Africain in Tunisia. Meanwhile, Msaidie has not taken a new role since leaving Real Madrid. Being discreet and rarely sharing professional insights, he once conducted a thesis related to brain reprogramming after injury. Recently, he also participated in a podcast with Zidane and Bettoni to reflect on their time in Spain, seen as a stepping stone to gradually adapt to more media appearances.

Besides familiar associates, Zidane wants to build a coaching team of reliable individuals, prioritizing efficiency and confidentiality.

According to RMC Sport, some former French players who won the 1998 World Cup may be considered, with Alain Boghossian being a prominent name due to his close relationship with Zidane. The 55-year-old former midfielder previously served as an assistant for the French national team from 2008 to 2012.

Additionally, Zizou frequently exchanges with Henri Emile, a veteran figure in French football. Despite sharing valuable experience, Emile does not intend to join due to his age, and emphasizes that their relationship is mainly personal.
