Vietnamese-born goalkeeper Nguyen Ba Nhat Ka, standing at 1.95m, officially leaves the Vietnam U19 team after a trial period, failing to impress the coaching staff.
Vietnamese-born goalkeeper Nguyen Ba Nhat Ka has officially bid farewell to the Vietnam U19 team following the latest training camp, concluding a brief yet noteworthy journey wearing the jersey of the "Golden Star Young Warriors." Despite receiving high expectations, especially from the media, the 2007-born goalkeeper has not managed to convince the coaching staff.
Possessing a height of up to 1.95m, which ranks among the most notable among young Vietnamese goalkeepers today, Nhat Ka was once considered a promising talent. His physical advantage gives him clear strengths in aerial duels and controlling the penalty area. However, at the national youth team level, technical skill and consistency remain decisive factors.
Not being retained in the Vietnam U19 squad does not come as a major surprise to Nhat Ka. This goalkeeper understands he is still in the process of refining his skills and needs more time to develop. For him, the period of training with the national team was a valuable opportunity to accumulate experience and enhance his capabilities.
Nguyen Ba Nhat Ka was born in Vietnam but moved to Japan to settle at the age of 8. He grew up within the school football environment in the Land of the Rising Sun, currently studying and playing for the team of Ryutsu Keizai University—one of the renowned youth training hubs. Nevertheless, among a squad of over 80 players, Nhat Ka has not yet secured a regular starting position.
A noteworthy aspect of this goalkeeper is his progressive spirit and diligence. Utilizing the break between academic years in Japan, he proactively returned to Vietnam to train at PVF and Da Nang before the Lunar New Year. Previously, when the Vietnam U19 team went to Japan for training, Nhat Ka also requested to join as a trainee to gain more experience.
Leaving the Vietnam U19 team at this moment may be a necessary step back in Nhat Ka's development journey. Like many other overseas Vietnamese players, he still needs more time to adapt and prove himself. If he continues to maintain his determined effort, the door to the national team in the future remains fully open for this young goalkeeper.
