Vietnam team captain Duy Mạnh praised rookie Đỗ Hoàng Hên, not only for his professional skills but also for his ability to integrate with the team.
During the press conference before the match Bangladesh on March 25th, Đỗ Duy Mạnh - captain of the Vietnam team shared important insights. Regarding immediate goals, Duy Mạnh said:
“The team’s goal is naturally to win because it relates to rankings; the team aims to perform well to achieve good results and bring joy to fans. The Vietnam team respects Bangladesh and will focus fully to compete against them.”
Besides familiar faces in the team, Vietnam also welcomes many rookies, most notably Đỗ Hoàng Hên. Additionally, the Golden Star Warriors welcome the return of veterans after long absences like Xuân Son, Văn Hậu, and Đình Bắc.
“Hên speaks Vietnamese very well and has performed excellently in Vietnam. His presence in the team is recognized by coach Kim Sang Sik”, Duy Mạnh said.
“Regarding Đình Trọng and Văn Hậu, of course, Mạnh is very happy. After reuniting, we talked. Mạnh is very happy and pleased that both have returned. After long injuries and recovery efforts, both have returned. I hope both will train well, play well, and contribute their best to Vietnamese football.”
Before this match, the Vietnam team had 4 training sessions at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. However, only on March 24th did the Korean strategist have full personnel.
In this training session, Vietnam’s lineup has notable changes, including the first appearance of naturalized midfielder Đỗ Hoàng Hên, and the return of the duo Văn Hậu - Đình Trọng after many years absent.
The match against Bangladesh serves as a necessary warm-up for Vietnam before facing Malaysia in the final round of the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. According to the coaching staff’s professional assessment, Bangladesh is considered a suitable “green team” during FIFA Days, providing Vietnam more opportunities to test formations and maintain international match rhythm.
According to plan, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will have one day to prepare before the official match at Hàng Đẫy Stadium on March 26th. This will be an important test for the team ahead of welcoming Malaysia in the final Asian Cup 2027 qualifier, held at Thiên Trường Stadium (Ninh Bình) on March 31st.
