In reality, during the first meeting of the National Coaching Council in 2026 held on March 24, the VFF officially set the goal of returning the Vietnamese national team to the FIFA top 100, while aiming for the World Cup dream. This is seen as a long-term strategic step, requiring synchronization from the youth training system to the national team level.

In the first quarter of 2026, Vietnamese football recorded many positive signals. Notably, the achievement of winning the Bronze Medal by the U23 Vietnam team at the AFC U23 Championship after defeating U23 South Korea. Additionally, national teams from men's, women's to futsal all maintained stable training and competition activities.

Notably, Vietnamese football has established a historic milestone by having 8 national teams qualify for Asian Finals, an unprecedented achievement. Alongside competitive achievements, the VFF is intensifying the training of coaches according to AFC/VFF standards, expanding courses from C, B, A certificates to specialized programs for fitness, goalkeepers, futsal, and beach soccer.

Furthermore, the strategy of rejuvenating the squad, especially in women's football, along with strengthening the connection between the training system and elite competition, is being implemented comprehensively.

All these steps show that Vietnamese football is not stopping at regional success but is aiming for a bigger goal, conquering the World Cup stage. As Southeast Asian media observes, this is a "big dream" but with a clear roadmap and strong determination, it can fully become reality in the future.
