From the player wearing jersey number 80 to the 'sports stages' getting a new look

In the context of major policies for cultural development being vigorously implemented after the 14th Congress, especially the direction from Resolution 80, many localities across the country have intensified investment, renovation, and upgrading of stadium systems. Not only serving sports competitions, these projects are also recognized as an important part of the cultural institution, contributing to enhancing the spiritual life of the community and the people.

Sports stadiums are important spaces for cultural, sports, and tourism activities in community life.

Recent upgrade and new construction projects in many localities, from central to grassroots levels, show a clear shift in approach: from viewing stadiums merely as competition venues to multifunctional cultural and social spaces, meeting the increasingly diverse needs of the people.

The renovation and upgrade project for Thống Nhất Stadium, with a total investment of 319.887 billion VND, commenced on March 24 and is expected to be completed within 360 days.

At the commencement ceremony, Mr. Huỳnh Thanh Nhân, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, emphasized that the renovation and upgrade of Thống Nhất Stadium is a correct decision by the city's leadership. He affirmed that Thống Nhất Stadium holds memories for many generations of city residents. It has hosted classic matches of Vietnamese football and national team competitions in major international tournaments.

After renovation, Thống Nhất Stadium will not only be a pride for Ho Chi Minh City's sports but also a cultural sports icon, contributing to making the city more dynamic, modern, compassionate, and deeply integrated with the world.

This is a key project with a ripple effect for the city's sports movement. The city leadership's decision to invest and approve this project is not merely about repairing a stadium but also a systematic investment for the future development of sports.

Phúc Thọ Stadium (City Hanoi): The wave of reinvestment spreads to grassroots levels

Not limited to major urban centers, the investment trend also extends to grassroots levels. In Hanoi, the Phúc Thọ Stadium project is implemented to complete the system of cultural and sports institutions at the grassroots level.

After years of being "abandoned" and deteriorating, Phúc Thọ Stadium has officially been renovated and upgraded, with a total investment of over 234.6 billion VND.

The project will renovate competition halls and technical infrastructure to create spacious, modern community activity spaces; including squares and playgrounds, meeting the cultural, physical exercise, and sports needs of the local people and neighboring areas.

It is known that Phúc Thọ Stadium was inaugurated in 2010 (a project commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long - Hanoi). However, due to years of neglect and lack of maintenance, the stadium deteriorated and became desolate, causing public discontent.

Upon completion, these routes will contribute to completing the inter-regional transportation network, driving the socio-economic development of the Capital and localities.

Việt Trì Stadium (Phú Thọ Province): Elevating to international standards

In Phú Thọ, Việt Trì Stadium is planned for continued investment and upgrade to expand scale and enhance technical standards. The stadium currently has a capacity of about 20,000 seats and has been used for many major domestic and international competitions. However, with increasing demands for hosting events, the current facilities reveal limitations in capacity and technical standards.

According to the development plan, the stadium will be invested in for upgrade and expansion to approximately 30,000 - 35,000 seats, while improving technical infrastructure to meet standards for organizing regional-level competitions.

In recent years, Việt Trì Stadium has become a familiar venue for many major competitions, attracting large numbers of fans. Continued investment will not only enhance competition quality but also expand the capacity to host large-scale cultural and sports events.

This is also an important step in gradually modernizing and integrating sports infrastructure systems, aligning with integration requirements.

New Trend: From "Sports Facilities" to "Community Cultural Spaces"

Through large-scale projects in urban areas like Thống Nhất to grassroots-level projects like Phúc Thọ or Việt Trì, all aim towards the common goal of serving people and meeting the increasingly diverse needs of society. Stadiums are no longer viewed merely as competition venues but are gradually becoming multifunctional cultural and social activity spaces.

It can be seen that after the 14th Congress and especially in the context of implementing Resolution 80 on cultural development, investment and renovation of stadium systems have been carried out systematically and comprehensively. This change not only contributes to enhancing spiritual life quality but also drives the widespread development of cultural and sports activities.

Through these "sports stages" getting a new look, it is evident that sports are not just about matches; they are progressively becoming an important part of community cultural life, contributing to building a dynamic, healthy, and sustainable society. Resolution 80 is likened to a fresh breeze, like a field artist wearing jersey number 80, spreading sports passion, promoting culture, and connecting communities.
