Sunderland's commercial director, David Bruce, shared: “Hosting this match and welcoming one of football's greatest legends is a tremendous honor for us.

The Stadium of Light has long been renowned for hosting major events, and Ronaldinho's appearance this time is no exception.

Sunderland is an international destination for football fans, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming these big names and showcasing the city to everyone.”

Regarding Ronaldinho, although he officially announced retirement in 2018, his last professional match actually took place in September 2015 while he was still playing for Fluminense.

The 2005 Ballon d'Or winner is most remembered for his five-year stint at Barcelona (2003-2008), where he rose to become a global icon thanks to his improvisational style and technical skill.
