Manchester United Faces a £17 Million Dilemma! Villa Eyes Rashford if Champions League Qualification is Achieved, but Player Wants Only Barcelona

Manchester United is negotiating with Barcelona over Rashford's future. Sir Jim Ratcliffe demands the €30 million buyout clause be paid for a permanent transfer, otherwise the player will be recalled and sold to another club. However, Barcelona remains unconcerned, placing Rashford on the bench as a reminder: it was Flick who activated the 28-year-old England international, and the club can also render him inactive.

Rashford has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists for Barcelona this season, but his last contribution was on January 31. Statistics show that in his last five appearances, four were as a substitute, often playing only minutes. If this continues, his value will decline again, making it harder for Manchester United to sell him.

Manchester United is actively spreading messages that Rashford has suitors, with Premier League clubs and other overseas teams showing interest. Especially after Rashford's recent recall to Tuchel's England squad for matches against Uruguay and Japan, he has a strong chance to be included in the final roster for the summer's Copa America.

From a logical standpoint, Rashford desires to stay at Barcelona, which can buy him for €30 million (£26 million), a seemingly reasonable price. However, Barcelona hopes to negotiate a lower fee with Manchester United or arrange another loan with a mandatory purchase next summer.

ESPN reports that Manchester United insists on its stance: if Barcelona bargains, the club will sell Rashford to another team for higher profit. As a player with an English "homegrown" status, this should not be difficult.

It is reported that several clubs have already inquired about Rashford's transfer. Moreover, Ruben Amorim, who had a fallout with Rashford, has already been dismissed; Michael Carrick, who played with Rashford and coached him as an assistant, could also keep Rashford at Manchester United.

However, Barcelona dismisses this, aware of two obstacles for Manchester United. First, Rashford himself wishes to stay at Camp Nou, where he faces less pressure and enjoys life. United supporters know that when Rashford is happy, he performs well.

Secondly, Rashford's weekly wage of £325,000 is a hurdle for almost any club interested. Rashford agreed to a 50% salary cut to join Barcelona, but he may not accept the same for another club. If he cannot join Barcelona, he might choose to stay at Manchester United, disrupting Sir Jim Ratcliffe's wage structure adjustment plans.

If Manchester United returns to the Champions League, Rashford's annual salary would approach £17 million. If he pressures the club as Antony did when moving to Real Betis, United would face a difficult situation: either sell him at a reduced price or continue bearing his hefty wages.

According to British media "TEAMtalk," among Premier League clubs, Aston Villa—which previously loaned Rashford—is most keen and may sign him to replace Sancho, who is likely to leave at the end of this season.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey states that due to Sancho's recent resurgence, Emery would also consider signing him for free. However, Sancho prefers returning to his former Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund.

Moreover, Villa must secure Champions League qualification to attract Rashford and Sancho. But the issue remains: playing for Barcelona has always been Rashford's dream, fulfilled last summer, and he envisions his long-term future there. Rashford has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona; the next step is negotiating Manchester United's compromise.
