The 2026/27 V-League season is anticipated to start on September 4. This is the draft plan just presented by Vietnam Football Joint Stock Company.
Yesterday afternoon, March 26, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held a conference to deploy preparations and organize the 2026-2027 National Professional Football competitions.
Accordingly, after deducting the time allocated for international tournaments as scheduled by FIFA and AFC, the remaining time for the 2026/27 National Professional Football competitions is only about 187 days.
This season is projected to feature 14 Premier League clubs and 14 First Division clubs. Clubs not participating in international competitions will play a minimum of 27 to a maximum of 33 matches, with an average frequency of about 6 days per match.

Specifically, clubs participating in AFC and AFF international tournaments must play at least 32 matches and could play up to 54 matches, increasing the match density to approximately 3–4 days per match.
It is planned that the National Super Cup will be held on August 30, 2026. The National Championship V-League will start on September 4, 2026 and conclude on May 22, 2027.
The National First Division: Scheduled from September 11, 2026 to May 16, 2027. The National Cup: Scheduled from November 6, 2026 to May 30, 2027.
The 2026/27 club competition schedule is carefully designed to ensure sufficient time for National Teams to fulfill their international duties.
Based on the competition framework for the 2026-2027 season, there will be 4 FIFA Days breaks and a break from mid-December 2026 to early February 2027 to accommodate key plans:
National Team training camp: Preparation for the Asian Cup from mid-December 2026. AFC Asian Cup 2027: Held in Saudi Arabia throughout January 2027.
Lunar New Year holiday: Coinciding with the late January to early February 2027 period.
Regarding transfer registration periods, the 2026/27 season has two player registration phases: Phase 1 runs from July 24, 2026 to September 22, 2026.
Phase 2 runs from January 25, 2027 to March 15, 2027.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc, General Director of VPF Company, emphasized that clubs participating in international competitions in the 2026/27 season need to proactively prepare for potentially dense match schedules, with a frequency of about 3 days per match as mentioned. Depending on practical conditions, VPF Company will work with clubs to calculate and arrange reasonable timing, possibly considering postponing match schedules to ensure professionalism.
