Striker Alexander Isak is said to be unhappy at Liverpool and desires to move to a leading European football team.
According to El Nacional, striker Alexander Isak has requested his agent to arrange a departure from Liverpool during the summer transfer window, with Barcelona being the preferred destination. The Swedish forward joined the Anfield side in September 2025 and currently has a contract until 2031.
Information from Spanish media sources indicates that Isak is dissatisfied with his current situation at Liverpool. The star born in 1999 is reportedly seeking a fresh start and feels his development is stagnating due to injury-related issues. This has led to speculation about a potential departure after just one season.
Liverpool previously spent up to 140 million Euros to sign Isak, so they would certainly aim to recoup most of this amount if he leaves. However, Barcelona is facing financial difficulties, making this transfer highly unlikely at the moment.
Nevertheless, negotiations regarding Isak's future are predicted to intensify soon. Liverpool themselves are not under pressure to sell, as the forward still has a long-term contract and the likelihood of him forcing an exit after just one year is low. According to Transfermarkt's valuation, Isak's current market value is approximately 100 million Euros.
Since arriving at Anfield last summer, Isak has played a total of 16 matches for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist. These statistics are clearly unsatisfactory for The Kop's fans, especially considering the club had to break the Premier League transfer record to terminate the Swedish striker's contract with Newcastle.
Additionally, the injury from last December also restricted Isak's playing time for Liverpool. However, the 27-year-old forward is likely to return for the final part of the season, aiming to help the club pursue the Champions League and FA Cup titles, as their chances of defending the Premier League crown are almost gone.
