Thai U23 coach stunned by only winning 1-0 against Vietnam U23

The head coach of Thailand's U23 team regrets that his players couldn't score more goals against Vietnam U23.

Speaking after the 1-0 victory over Vietnam U23, Thailand U23 coach Thawachai Dumrongongtrakun stated:

“This was a good match against a strong Southeast Asian team like Vietnam. The players deserve praise for controlling their emotions and staying focused throughout the game despite the opponent's pressure.

I regret that the team created many chances in both halves but couldn't score. In the first half, the pace of the match might have been too fast, leading to frequent loss of possession,” Coach Wang commented.

Further discussing the tactics in this match, the Thai strategist revealed: “In this match, 8 out of the 11 starting players were rotated to China to conserve stamina and avoid injuries from continuous play. The players given the chance to play could showcase their potential well.

With this result, Thailand U23 has 4 points and temporarily climbs to the top of the standings. In the final match, the young "War Elephants" will face opponent North Korea U23. Regarding the goal for the final round, the Thai U23 coach affirmed: "The next objective is to test the players' fitness to prepare for the third match against North Korea.”
