FIFA uses money to 'appease' Barcelona

FC Barcelona will receive financial compensation from FIFA after Raphinha sustained an injury while on duty with the national team.

However, this amount is considered insignificant compared to the professional losses the Catalan club is facing.

According to released information, Raphinha suffered a hamstring injury in his right thigh during the friendly match between Brazil and the French national team. Medical examination results indicate that the winger, born in 1996, will need approximately 5 weeks to fully recover. This is a considerable period during the crucial stage of the season, as Barcelona is competing on multiple fronts.

Because Raphinha's absence exceeds the 28-day threshold stipulated by the Club Protection Program, Barcelona qualifies for compensation from FIFA. This mechanism is designed to support clubs when their players are injured while serving their national teams. The payment amount is calculated based on the player's fixed salary and the number of days absent beyond the minimum required period.

In Raphinha's case, the Camp Nou-based club is expected to receive around 143,836 Euros. This is a substantial figure from a purely financial perspective, but it clearly cannot compensate for the professional losses. Raphinha is one of the key elements in the attacking line for Barcelona, thanks to his speed, ability to create breakthroughs, and direct contributions to goals.

The absence of the Brazilian star forces Barcelona's coaching staff to make tactical and personnel adjustments. In the context of a packed schedule, any shortage can significantly impact the team's ambitions for competing for titles.
