Another Liverpool star signals desire to depart

Andy Robertson confirms he will decide his future before summer, as his contract with Liverpool FC nears expiration, marking the end of a glorious era at Anfield.

Andy Robertson's future at Liverpool is entering a decisive phase, as the Scottish defender confirms he will settle his next destination before summer to avoid distractions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Robertson's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, meaning his nearly decade-long association with Anfield could be nearing its conclusion. At 32, the Scotland captain understands this is a crucial moment to decide the final stage of his career, especially as he is no longer the first-choice option on the left flank under the current tactical system. The rise of Milos Kerkez has significantly reduced Robertson's starting opportunities, and his top priority now is to secure regular playing time.

Speaking to the media, Robertson candidly stated: “I will definitely make a decision before the World Cup. I don’t want the future issue dragging on and affecting the major tournament. No one wants to enter an important competition with their mind still preoccupied by contract matters.”

The 1994-born star emphasized that he always prefers matters resolved early, whether it’s renewing with Liverpool or seeking a new challenge. “There are only about 8 or 9 weeks left from now until the end of the season. I will sit down with my family to see what is best for everyone.”

During the January transfer window, Robertson was linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but the deal did not materialize. It is anticipated that in the upcoming summer, several major European clubs and Premier League teams will compete to secure the signature of this experienced defender.

One of the most emotionally resonant destinations is Celtic, a club Robertson admired since childhood. However, he remains discreet: “I don’t really want to talk about Celtic. Everyone knows I was a fan of them, but the current options will remain private.”

If he leaves Liverpool, Robertson will close a glorious chapter in his career. Since joining from Hull City AFC nine years ago, he has made 372 appearances and helped The Reds win 9 major and minor trophies, notably including 1 UEFA Champions League and 2 Premier League titles. An era at Anfield may be ending, but Robertson’s name is undoubtedly etched into the club’s history.
