After the concluding series of matches in the 2027 Asian Cup qualification round, AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa conveyed his congratulations to the five countries that earned tickets to the continental championship, among them Vietnam.
Specifically, the five teams are Tajikistan, Thailand, Singapore, Syria, and Vietnam will join the 18 teams that have already qualified for the World Cup 2026 third round in participating in the 2027 Asian Cup Finals hosted in Saudi Arabia next year.
The AFC President stated: “On behalf of the Asian football family, I commend the resilience and excellence demonstrated by the five member associations involved – Tajikistan, Thailand, Singapore, Syria, and Vietnam – throughout this qualification campaign.”
“The intense competition we witnessed, especially in these final stages, proves the narrowing quality gap across our continent. We eagerly await welcoming the qualified teams to the historic AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™, which promises to be a landmark event for the sport,” he added.
Additionally, AFC President Sheikh Salman particularly praised Singapore for achieving a deserved milestone for the first time and Tajikistan for repeating their success after their initial qualification in 2023. He further remarked: “The success of Singapore and Tajikistan highlights the dedication and effort of their players, coaching staff, and the outstanding environment fostered by their member associations.”
“The AFC’s vision and mission have guided us over the past decade; our achievements are truly evident, and we are now entering a new era where gaps are closing, and the diversity of qualifying teams promises a genuinely inclusive and competitive tournament,” the head of Asian football concluded.
Currently, the 2027 Asian Cup Finals have only confirmed 23 out of 24 participating teams due to the postponed match between Yemen and Lebanon until June.
