FIFA is delighted to announce that Indonesia has unexpectedly received a major opportunity.

The Indonesian women's team will travel to Thailand to participate in the FIFA Series 2026, replacing Nepal which withdrew at the last minute.

The world football federation FIFA has confirmed a notable change regarding the participants of the FIFA Series 2026 in Thailand, with the Indonesian women's team being selected as a last-minute replacement for Nepal. This decision opens a new opportunity for the Southeast Asian representative to participate in this experimental and globally connecting event.

According to the official announcement, the Indonesian women's team will travel to Thailand to participate in the tournament taking place in mid-April. This is considered a significant step forward for women's football in the archipelago nation, as they are actively accumulating international experience and enhancing their position on the global football map.

The FIFA Series 2026 is not merely a series of friendly matches but also a strategic project by FIFA aimed at creating an environment for interaction between different football cultures. This year's event will be held at Ratchaburi Stadium from April 12th to 15th, 2026, featuring teams from various continents.

Nepal's withdrawal created the opportunity for Indonesia (ranked 106th in the world) to participate. Previously, this country also hosted a FIFA Series stage for the men's national team, demonstrating its proactive and positive engagement with international football activities initiated by FIFA.

Due to the short preparation time, the tournament will adopt a knockout format with the participation of four teams: host Thailand, Indonesia, DR Congo, and New Caledonia. The teams will compete to secure two spots in the final, promising exciting matches showcasing diverse regional playing styles.

According to the schedule, Indonesia will face DR Congo at 16:00 on April 12th, while Thailand meets New Caledonia in the other match. Given the unique nature of the series, FIFA hopes that the teams will not only compete but also learn and exchange expertise, thereby contributing to the comprehensive development of women's football worldwide.
