Vinicius and Mbappe fail to score, Real Madrid loses to relegation battling team

In this season's La Liga round 30, Real Madrid unexpectedly lost 1-2 to Mallorca, a team fighting to avoid relegation.

Real Madrid visited Mallorca's stadium tonight (April 4th) while they are chasing Barcelona in La Liga.

Coach Arbeloa placed Vinicius Junior on the bench to conserve his energy for the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The absence of Vinicius left Real Madrid lacking sharpness in the first half. The best chance fell to star striker Kylian Mbappe, who had just recovered from a knee ligament injury.

In the 22nd minute, Arda Guler delivered a clever through pass for the French star to sprint forward and shoot, but goalkeeper Leo Roman successfully blocked it with his foot. This goalkeeper denied Mbappe again after a pass from Eduardo Camavinga, while Antonio Rudiger also headed a shot that hit the crossbar from a corner kick.

In the 35th minute, Mallorca's Manu Morlanes had a headed shot that hit the crossbar of Real Madrid's goal. This midfielder scored the opening goal in the 42nd minute after escaping Camavinga's marking, entering the penalty area and finishing from Pablo Maffeo's cross into the low corner of the goal, defeating Andriy Lunin. The first half ended with a 1-0 lead for Mallorca.

Morlanes scores the opening goal

Early in the second half, goalkeeper Leo Roman continued to block Mbappe's shot as Real Madrid pushed for an equalizing goal. Arbeloa later introduced Vinicius, Jude Bellingham, and Militao onto the field.

Real Madrid applied continuous pressure but was ineffective against Mallorca's solid defense under Martin Demichelis until the 88th minute. From Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner kick, the ball found Militao and he delivered a powerful header into the top corner to level the score 1-1.

Just when the match seemed destined for a draw, Mallorca surprisingly scored a second goal in the 90+1 minute. Muriqi, second in the scoring list behind Mbappe, unleashed a shot that defeated Lunin, securing three points for his team. This is his 18th goal of the season.

After 90 minutes, Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Mallorca. This defeat caused Real Madrid to miss the chance to close the gap with Barcelona. On the La Liga standings, Real Madrid ranks second with 69 points while Barcelona leads with 73 points. However, the Catalan team has played one match less than Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Mallorca ranks 17th with 31 points, two points above the relegation zone after defeating Real Madrid.
