Manchester United announces 25-man training camp roster, one key player ill, two injured players return! Young talent misses out due to Real Madrid match.

Manchester United headed to Dublin, Ireland on Monday for a four-day training camp, with the 25-man roster officially released. Two players had to be absent due to illness: starting right-back Diogo Dalot and third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who remained in Manchester for medical care.

Long-term injured defender Matthijs de Ligt also did not accompany the team to Ireland, and his season might be entirely finished. The 26-year-old Dutch center-back has been troubled by a back injury since the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in late November last year and has not returned to the pitch.

However, there are positive developments as previously injured Lisandro Martinez and Patrick Doku are included in the squad, indicating they are close to returning. Among them, Martinez may progress faster, soon joining full team training, while Doku is still undergoing individual workouts.

Carrick hopes Martinez remains injury-free during Dublin training to avoid a shortage of center-back options for the Premier League match against Leeds United. Maguire, red-carded in the Bournemouth match, will definitely miss the Leeds game and likely face a two-match suspension. Martinez missed five games due to a calf injury; if he is not fit to start, Carrick may have to pair young players Leny Yoro and Eden Haven as center-backs.

Carrick also included three young players from the academy in the squad: Yuel Helafu, Jim Thwaites, and Victor Musa. The highly watched 15-year-old "Little Messi" JJ Gabriel was not called up this time.

The 18-year-old winger Shay Lacey, who has recovered from injury, was not selected because he will participate in Manchester United's U21 match on Tuesday. The Red Devils' U21 team faces Real Madrid in the Premier League International Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford. United's U21 coach Adam Lawrence confirmed last week that Lacey has been promoted to the first team but can still play for the youth side when needed; for the Madrid match, he requires the help of the "Red Devils' Foden," thus persuading Carrick to let him stay in Manchester to compete.

Carrick hopes this training camp helps players regain their previous good form. Due to the international break and FA Cup elimination, United has a 24-day gap before next Monday's home match against Leeds United. United drew 1-1 away at Leeds in the first meeting this season; after that match, former manager Ruben Amorim was dismissed, having criticized owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's management and demanded transfer authority before the game.

Before this home fixture against Leeds, Carrick has received a positive news: Leeds' key midfielder Anton Stach is injured and unavailable. Leeds eliminated West Ham United in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday, advancing to Wembley, but Stach suffered an ankle injury and is confirmed to miss the United match. Stach was fouled by Max Kilman, resulting in a sprain with significant swelling. The 27-year German player has appeared in 26 Premier League matches this season, scoring 4 goals and assisting 3 times.

After facing Leeds, United has several tougher matches ahead, including against Chelsea, Brentford, Liverpool, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton.

Manchester United's 25-man training camp roster: Sena Ramens, Altay Bayindir, Dermot Mee, Fred Heath; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Yoro, Haven, Helafu, Malacia, Luke Shaw, Doku; Casemiro, Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Thwaites; Cunha, Zirkzee, Sesko, Amad Diallo, Mbeumo, Musa.
