CAHN Club has officially announced its new Brazilian assistant coach, Mr. Mavi Lopes.
Shortly after parting ways with assistant Luis Viegas, CAHN Club found a new assistant for Coach Polking: Mr. Mavi Lopes. With extensive experience working in South American and Asian football environments, Mr. Mavi Lopes is expected to be a quality addition to the coaching staff during the crucial final phase of the season.
According to information from Transfermarkt, before moving to CAHN, Mr. Mavi Lopes was the head coach of Muang Trang United Club in Thailand's third division. This strategist has considerable experience leading teams in Thailand, though mostly smaller clubs, and currently holds only an AFC C-level coaching license.
Mavi Lopes is expected to be a worthy replacement for his predecessor Luis Viegas, who was considered the right-hand man with many years of close association as a technical assistant to Coach Polking. Last weekend, the Portuguese strategist officially left the Public Security team after nearly two years of service.
He is regarded as a close associate of Mano Polking, the current head coach of CAHN. The two began working together in 2014 and have collaborated through various clubs, from Bangkok United, Ho Chi Minh City, to the Thai national team, before continuing their partnership at CAHN.
During his time with the Capital team, Luis Viegas and his colleagues left a significant mark by securing runner-up position in the Shopee Cup, winning the National Cup in the 2024/25 season, and conquering the National Super Cup title in 2025.
After leaving CAHN, assistant Viegas immediately found a new position. In the upcoming journey, the challenge for Viegas and the new coaching staff at Botafogo will be to improve the team's performance in the Brazilian National Championship, where they currently rank 10th and trail the leading team Palmeiras by 13 points.
