Inter Milan solidifies top spot after thrilling comeback against Fabregas's team

Inter Milan staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Como 4-3 in a match featuring seven goals, thereby extending their lead to nine points at the top of Serie A.

Notably, wing-back Denzel Dumfries shone with a brace, helping the black-and-blue side extend their streak of 11 consecutive wins against Como in the league.

Traveling to Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium after Napoli's draw with Parma, Inter aimed to secure all three points to move closer to the Scudetto. However, Como started better. Repeated chances forced Dumfries and Francesco Acerbi to make several last-ditch saves on the goal line.

The home team's pressure materialized in the 36th minute when Alex Valle opened the scoring with a close-range finish after Yann Sommer's uncertain clearance. Before the first half ended, Nico Paz doubled the lead with a classy long-range shot, the ball hitting the post before going into the net.

Nevertheless, Inter sparked hope when Marcus Thuram reduced the deficit to 1-2 just before halftime.

In the second half, the match situation reversed dizzyingly. Within less than 15 minutes, Inter scored three consecutive goals to turn the tide. Thuram completed his brace in the 49th minute following Nicolo Barella's assist, before Dumfries headed in the equalizer from Hakan Calhanoglu's free kick.

By the 58th minute, Dumfries continued to shine with a decisive finish, raising the score to 4-2 for Inter after Manuel Akanji's play.

Como did not give up and narrowed it to 3-4 thanks to Lucas Da Cunha's successful penalty, after Ange-Yoan Bonny fouled Paz. However, that was all the home team managed.

This victory helps Inter take a significant step forward on their journey to clinching their 21st Serie A title, while also affirming the caliber of the leading contender. Meanwhile, Como ended their eight-match unbeaten streak across all competitions and missed the chance to break into the top four.
