Thai media is buzzing over the denial of Vietnamese origins by a European star.

Thai media is heating up the story surrounding Kenneth Schmidt, emphasizing his own statement denying any Vietnamese connection, thereby sparking numerous opposing debates among the public.

Thai media, specifically the site KrianBuriram V2, recently caught fans' attention by posting information related to center-back Kenneth Schmidt and rumors of Vietnamese origins. The article quickly spread, not only due to its content but also because of its emotionally charged wording, targeting the player's reaction to the Vietnamese origin rumors.

According to the Thai reporting style, the story escalated when Schmidt himself directly spoke out on social media. He wrote: “I come from Nigeria and Germany!!! I do not come from Vietnam or Madagascar.” This response was emphasized as a definitive denial, and that detail became the focal point in how Thai media exploited the story.

Not stopping at quoting the statement, the article also suggested that Schmidt's reaction had "hurt" Vietnamese fans. They even emphasized that there had previously been information that the 2002-born player was of "half Vietnamese blood" but had bluntly refused it. However, this is a controversial point, as this information does not match the official confirmations from the player himself.

In fact, according to German sources, Schmidt asserts that he only holds two nationalities: German and Nigerian, and has no connection whatsoever to Vietnam. The center-back, who developed from the SC Freiburg academy, has played in the Bundesliga and Europa League, and is considered a modern type of player, capable of playing flexibly in the defensive line.

In his career, Schmidt had a notable step forward when he was promoted to Freiburg's first team in 2023, debuted in the Europa League against Juventus, and later appeared in the Bundesliga. However, his performance did not remain stable, leading to a decrease in his value and transfers to other German clubs recently.

From this story, it can be seen how Thai media's exploitation of information created a different perspective, even causing misunderstandings. While the truth about Schmidt's origins is quite clear, emphasizing the element of "refusing Vietnam" pushes the story in a sensitive direction, attracting attention but also easily sparking debates among the public.
