As reported by the British "Daily Mail," Manchester United's goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has agreed on personal terms with Turkish side Besiktas, with his agent settling the contract details. Currently, the transaction is pending only the final step: agreeing on the transfer fee with Manchester United.

Bayindir celebrated his 28th birthday this week. Since new signing Sena Ramsay took over as Manchester United's starting goalkeeper last October, the Turkish player has not had any playing opportunities. However, this does not affect his participation in the World Cup, though his chances of becoming Turkey's starting goalkeeper are slim.
During the international matches last month, Bayindir was selected for the Turkish national team but did not play. When reporting to the national team, Turkish media focused more on rumors about him and Besiktas, which Manchester United's number 1 avoided discussing.
However, Turkish media confirm that his departure from Manchester United is almost certain. After Besiktas reached an agreement with Bayindir, negotiations over the transfer fee with the Red Devils are expected not to pose a hurdle.
When Bayindir transferred from Fenerbahce to Manchester United in the summer of 2023, the fee was €5 million. He signed with Manchester United until 2027, and under amortization principles, the club only needs to sell him for €1.25 million to avoid a loss on the books.
Of course, owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes to recover the full €5 million transfer fee, which is not an unaffordable price for the Turkish Super Lig club. Manchester United and Besiktas had discussions during the January winter transfer window, but at that time, the Red Devils were not planning to sell the player. However, the situation is different for the summer window, and this time Manchester United is willing to give the green light.

Sir Jim wants to clear out the two previous goalkeepers, not only Bayindir but also André Onana. Compared to Bayindir, the 30-year-old Onana is harder to sell; his transfer fee was as high as €50 million, with a basic weekly wage of £120,000, and currently, there is no interest in him.
Rumors suggest that Onana himself wishes to stay at the club, as returning to the Champions League would allow him to enjoy a salary increase at the Red Devils. Onana confidently claims he can reclaim the starting position, but unfortunately, the reality is that the club does not welcome him back.
It is expected that after Bayindir leaves, Manchester United's current main goalkeeper Ramsay will wear the number 1 jersey, currently numbered 31. He fully deserves this number; although his saving ability is not comparable to De Gea's peak, he possesses a key trait: stability and lack of errors. Statistics show that Ramsay has not made any mistakes leading directly to Manchester United conceding goals, and the team has only lost 4 matches in games he has played.
The 23-year-old Ramsay has prevented 5.21 expected goals from opponents, ranking third in the Premier League. In contrast, during the 2024/25 season, Onana only reduced 1.53 goals, placing 16th in the Premier League. In terms of goalkeeping duties, Ramsay outperforms Onana.
Veteran Tom Heaton, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Wednesday, may receive another one-year contract. Although Manchester United's number 22 rarely plays, he essentially serves as a goalkeeping coach and has a significant advantage: possessing an English "homegrown" status and being a product of Manchester United's youth academy, which plays an important role in registrations for the Premier League and Champions League.

Manchester United also hopes that Radek Vitek, returning from a loan at Bristol City in the Championship, will be willing to serve as the second goalkeeper. However, if this 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper is unwilling to be a substitute and may leave, then the Red Devils will need to sign a new goalkeeper.
