Indonesia’s national side earned an outstanding outcome in the friendly encounter with Oman at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on the evening of June 5. Their performance was strong, culminating in a solid 3-0 win.
Indonesia’s three goals came from Justin Hubner, Ole Romeny, and Ragnar Oratmangoen. The solid display by coach John Herdman’s squad was further highlighted by Emil Audero’s brilliant save, as he successfully stopped a penalty from Hatem Al Rushadi.
Beyond boosting confidence ahead of upcoming international fixtures, this victory also has a major impact on Indonesia’s FIFA ranking position. The additional points earned by the Indonesian team are welcome news for the development of football in Indonesia.

In recent years, the Indonesian national team has clearly shown a positive trend on the world rankings. The result against Oman has become one of those victories that can accelerate the team’s rise in the standings.
The win over Oman holds great significance because the opponent Indonesia faced was ranked considerably higher on the FIFA ladder. Before the match, Oman sat at 79th in the world, while Indonesia was ranked 122nd.
The 43-place gap made Oman the clear favorite based on world rankings. That situation meant Indonesia’s victory yielded a fairly large points gain under FIFA’s calculation system.
According to FIFA ranking simulations, the 3-0 win over Oman is expected to bring Indonesia roughly 6.56 points. This is one of the largest point increases during this FIFA Matchday period. That addition raises Indonesia’s total points to 1,151.44.
If the 6.56-point gain is confirmed in the next FIFA ranking update, Indonesia is projected to rise four places. The Indonesian team would then move up to 118th in the world.
The four teams Indonesia has overtaken are Togo, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and North Korea.
A four-place jump may seem modest on paper. However, within the highly competitive FIFA ranking system, gaining even a few positions remains a fairly important achievement.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team, currently ranked 99th in the world, is not gathering or playing friendlies during this June FIFA Days period in order to complete the remaining rounds of the V-League and National Cup.
