VFF continues to collaborate with FIFA to enhance youth development.

On the afternoon of June 6 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Football Federation and FIFA jointly held the FIFA Talent Discovery & Selection Criteria Workshop.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Tran Dinh Huan, General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation; Mr. Eric Abrams, a FIFA expert, along with nearly 40 participants from southern provinces.

After the workshop in Hanoi, the Vice President of the VFF noted several issues to make the southern workshop more effective. Regarding an open-minded and receptive attitude: participants must lead the way in changing their mindset, proactively study various models, and apply them creatively.

Regarding responsibility for the future of national football: coaches are the first link determining the quality of input, so a correct selection decision will bring a future star to the country. Concerning outreach: coaches must strongly propagate and synchronize at their units after acquiring knowledge and methodologies from the FIFA TDS (FIFA Talent Development Program).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, expert Eric Abrams expressed gratitude to the VFF for organizing the workshop in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, thereby facilitating travel for participants. The FIFA expert looks forward to exciting insights during the two-and-a-half-day workshop.

Expert Eric Abrams thanked the VFF for holding the workshop in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

On behalf of the participants, Coach Doan Minh Xuong expressed thanks and wished good health to all members and instructors. He noted that Vietnamese football has made progress, particularly in youth football. With the first generation, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan led the Vietnam U20 team to the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, thereby producing a generation of talents that brought glory under the guidance of Coach Park Hang Seo.

According to expert Doan Minh Xuong, youth football has received attention and investment in facilities and achieved results, but compared to global youth training, Vietnamese youth football still has limitations. This includes insufficient coverage in scouting young players, mainly concentrated in the North. The South remains limited, affecting Vietnam's talent discovery. From this assessment, Mr. Doan Minh Xuong believes that holding the workshop in Ho Chi Minh City is necessary and urgent to improve football effectiveness in the South. He hopes that through this course, coaches will acquire the latest knowledge to apply when returning to their bases, further enhancing youth training efforts.
