Florentino Pérez emerged victorious in the Real Madrid presidential election that took place on June 7 in Valdebebas, securing his continued leadership of the Spanish giants through 2030.
The official results were announced shortly after midnight local time, confirming Florentino Perez's victory over opponent Enrique Riquelme. Although pre-election polls all favored the incumbent president, this year's election drew significant attention as Riquelme emerged as a candidate capable of offering genuine competition after years in which Perez faced virtually no opposition.

According to exit polls, Florentino Perez received approximately two-thirds of the votes from Real Madrid members. This result extends his term by four more years, allowing him to lead the club until 2030.
This marks Perez's third victory in Real Madrid presidential elections. He previously lost to Ramón Mendoza in 1995 but defeated Lorenzo Sanz in the 2000 election with 55% of the vote. In 2004, Perez was reelected with over 90% of the ballots.
Since returning to power at Real Madrid in 2009, Perez has faced virtually no competition. In the 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025 elections, he was the sole candidate, so no voting was required.
This early election is seen as a surprising decision by the 79-year-old businessman. His current term was originally set to run until 2029, but Perez chose to hold an early vote after a disappointing season for Real Madrid, both in terms of on-field performance and the club's image.

Riquelme had hoped to implement some shocking plans but still lost to Perez in this election
The campaign between Perez and Enrique Riquelme started off fairly civil but grew increasingly tense toward the end. Both sides repeatedly traded criticisms while competing with promises regarding the club's development plans and major transfer deals.
During the campaign, Perez unveiled a series of attention-grabbing moves in the transfer market, including bringing in coach José Mourinho along with new signings Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries.
Not stopping there, the Real Madrid president also hinted at a new "blockbuster" signing. According to revelations during the campaign, Real Madrid is prepared to spend up to 150 million euros to recruit a top attacking star, with Michael Olise being the most frequently mentioned name.
This victory allows Florentino Perez to further cement his status as one of the most successful presidents in Real Madrid's history. Under his leadership, the royal club has won numerous major titles and become one of the world's most commercially valuable clubs. The new term through 2030 is expected to usher in a period of strong reconstruction for Real Madrid following last season's turbulent campaign.
