U19 Indonesia secured a place in the semifinals of the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship following a thrilling win over U19 Vietnam. Coach Nova Arianto emphasized that his team has grown progressively through every game and earned their success.
U19 Indonesia achieved a dramatic 2-1 victory over U19 Vietnam in the final match of Group A at the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship, thereby concluding the group stage with a perfect record and securing a semifinal spot as group leaders.
After the match, Coach Nova Arianto did not hide his satisfaction upon seeing his players overcome a direct rival to accomplish their set goal.
The coach of U19 Indonesia assessed that the team has shown clear maturity after each game at this year's tournament. “I am very pleased with today's performance. The players have shown positive improvement from the first match, through the second, to the third. This shows the team is on the right track,” shared Coach Nova Arianto.
According to this young tactician, matches against U19 Vietnam always bring special pressure because they are one of the strongest opponents in the Southeast Asian region. Therefore, he is even more satisfied that his players maintained their focus and composure in such an important game.
“Every time we face Vietnam, it brings a very different atmosphere, both professionally and emotionally. But the players showed their fighting spirit and best abilities in today’s match,” he added.
The win over U19 Vietnam helped U19 Indonesia finish the group stage with a perfect 9 points. The archipelago team scored 8 goals and conceded only once in three matches.
Despite already securing a semifinal berth, Coach Nova Arianto remained cautious, emphasizing that the whole team needs to maintain focus for the challenges ahead. According to him, the tournament still has tough matches, and U19 Indonesia must continue to improve if they want to go further.
